Ace of spades:
WWW:
. Very good soundtrack fits nicely with the shots.
. Good array of shots (e.g. the burning of the Ace of spades - good effect).
. Good tempo not to slow to make audience get bored and not to fast so audience can't actually see what happening.
EBI:
. Change the shot of the expressions bit, when it keeps rewinding back and fourth makes it seem really fake.
. Allot of black screen so fill them up with shots.
. And finally your whole trailer seems to revolve around poker so I'm guessing it's to do with money, so have shots of money and close ups of it, have money used in the sequence to emphasis the power and greed of man! linking to the 'new man' (GOOD FOR EVALUATION!!).
Hope:
WWW:
. I like the shots used their is definite thinking behind each shot.
. Also it is unique in the sense that NO-ONE is doing something like it this year.
. Finally I feel that everyone in your group has a equal say on what's going on in your trailer.
EBI:
. Soundtrack seems a bit slow for an upbeat type of film.
. Storyboard your shots will be SO much easier to do your editing.
Korrupted:
WWW:
. Very good introduction because I helped :D
. Also I see that you actually thought about your shots, like you actually went on a train to film.
. Finally it all seems to be in order so it tells a narrative but without giving too much away.
EBI:
. Sort out the second soundtrack it contrasts the first one.
. Also you lot need to fill the blank spaces.
. Finally the ending is key to all trailers its the bit that really makes the audience want to watch it so make sure you have an ending that will draw the attention of everyone.
Crescendo:
WWW:
. You lot have done allot in the time given and seems to be the group that are almost finished.
. The shots used are very imaginative for example the shadow shot of the pen.
. Raminder's singing!!
EBI:
. I feel that you are giving TOO MUCH AWAY FROM THE NARRATIVE! it's a trailer not an actual full length film.
. Also you need to add that shot of the exchange of drugs still!!

Ace of spades
Its looking good so far but you have a few changes to make.
~make sure you get those few shots filmed again as this will make your production look more professional and entertaining, instead of the repeated shots of shocked faces. Try and get some close ups of eyes, fingers, expressions, the poker chips, MONEY, the cards, the board and the people on the table in general as this will lead to more suspence.
~I love the (mr Jones) shouting thing BUT i think take out the "you killed your girlfried as this give away a lot of the story line. Maybe try and use the shot of him looking up and then do some flashbacks of him and his girlfriend together and then maybe her getting taken away.
HOPE
I like the storyline, it is very different to some of the other groups which is good.
There are a few changes which you need to do which will make it look more interesting to the target audience which is 16-25
~change your soundtrack; something more upbeat and lively to get the crowd going.
~try putting the 4 finalists at the begining and then showing what they do during the middle.
~work on Sadoons story because in the footage you have he doesnt look like the 'producer dude', so have him as a single performer and his girlfriend saying to him something like "its me of the music" to bring drama into the storyline, most dance and performance films usually have dramas and conflicts it would be good to show this in you trailer.

WWW:
~Clear storyline and I think you are the only group that I have seen to follow their storyboard
~Good opening
~Good choice of shots
EBI:
~Work on the music flowing with the sequence and make sure it goes on the beat, especially if you want to change the song again
~Fill the gaps on the opening with something don't just leave it empty and black it doesn't look very professional
~I think take out the 'dip to white' from the opening, if it is just a cut then it may flow better with the beat of the music
(Play around with it and see how it looks)
Gurjoth, Raminder, Jaz & Assi:
WWW:
~Good co-operation from all members of the group
~you have some good ideas and some excellent editing
~your narrative is clear and it looks like you know exactly what you are doing and how you want this to end up
EBI:
~your ideas are good but make sure they look effective when editing them as this could be difficult
~you don't want to give the ending away so make sure you have enough in their which provides an enigma for the audience and not make them think that this is another 'Ghetto boy gone good' story line

~Great story line and you guys have thought about this really well when considering the brief, it really fits in nicely.
~You have some good shots and used some really good angles.
~Good co-operation within the group, you guys know whats best for the production and are working on it well
EBI:
~ALL members of the group are there helping so it is equal input
~work on the individual scenes that you want in you production and make sure they flow properly with your structure
~Make sure you DO NOT give away the whole story

~Good shots
~Good structure and story
EBI:
~I’ve only seen two group members editing, make sure you all contribute to it
~Find a new soundtrack as you CANNOT use the one from Halloween as you will loose out on marks
~Try and make some longer scenes as your trailer is good for a show TV trailer but if its for the cinema then you need a bit more going on so it draw attention to the target audience and also so they know what is going on
~leave suspense so it thrills the audience and makes them want to watch your film

Hardeep and Rupal's report- Mon 9th March 09
Hoodstars- Gulmira & Bharti
-Strong narrative
-They know what your doing
However...
-Need to finish filming
-Start working on your timeline
Raminder, Gurjoth, Jaz & Assi-
-Good narrative
-Good communication within group
-Better if you showed us what you've got instead of being embarrassed
-Finish filming
Overall it looks really good, you've got a good plan and are following it
Getaway-Sejal, Akash, Ardit & [Anika?]
-Filming is done
-You need to work on a timeline
-Draw a storyboard, as it makes it easier to plan ahead-structure most important
Zero- Nenna, Sabrina, Saira & [Sarah?]
-Good communication
-Equal roles, and all members are commited except one [you need to start coming more often, as it is equally your production]
-Good footage, as complimented by Miss Holliday
-Finish filming
-Work on individual scenes, to make it look professional
-REMEMBER CTRL-Z to undo, DO NOT STRESS OUT!!
Korrupted- Saira, Indy, Simren & Harvinder
-This has to be the best group we've seen so far, because...
-All your filming is complete
-You have a storyboard!!- well done [and your actually following it]
But..
You still need to work your timeline
Although you've done alot, don't get too happy, theres still alot to do
remember its not about when you finish, its the quality that matters
Aim for EOW:
Get a soundtrack
Get a timeline by the EOW
Overall, everyones doing a good job, keep it up

Media Mentors 2009 =]
The mentors for 2009 are...
Hardeep, Rupal, Rajan, Harmeet & Ramone
We are here to help you with you media coursework during the week. Feel free to come up to us if you ever need any help, and we will do our best to help.
We went through the same situation last year so we know whats best for your production, we are also current media students, so we all have good understanding of media, and can help you follow the right conventions in your productions.
So for now...
-Get your filming finished people- ASAP, so you have more time to edit, as this is a time consuming process.
-Make sure all group members attend mornings and after school, coz it is COURSEWORK and has to be finished on time. And good work to all those who have been coming and doing the work, and keep working hard.
-Start to think about what you want to include in your production, what are the conventions? what is going to appeal to your audience? how are you going to engage this audience through your Media language? PLAN AHEAD.. it helps a great deal, even if you dont always stick to this plan
Lastly, work hard, concentrate and have fun!!
Good Luck
